Professor Pekka Puska, from the National Public Health Institute, wonders why consumers do not use more domestic fruits of the good of their health.
-Berries are light, low in fat and fibre-rich. They provide vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. They are pure and free of both additives and salt. They do not cause fattening. In fact, the domestic berries contain all of those elements which nutrition recommendations throughout the world contain.
The average Finn annually eats ten kilograms of berries. The eating of berries should be increased urgently, according to Puska, as a Finn eats 58 kilograms of fruit per year.
The farm store at Anttila sells Finnish berries, both fresh and frozen, as well as juices.
